Earth Day 2024: Planet vs. Plastics
April 22 marks Earth Day, a global event dedicated to raising awareness and taking action to protect our planet. This year, the global theme is "Planet vs. Plastics", emphasizing the urgent need to reduce plastic pollution and promote sustainable practices.
Collecting Ocean-Bound Plastic Waste
At Gorilla Wear, we are committed to making a positive impact on the environment and contributing to a better future. One of the ways we're doing this is by addressing the issue of plastic pollution. In collaboration with CleanHub, we've embarked on a mission to collect 66,000 lb of ocean-bound plastic waste. To put it into perspective, that's equivalent to 3 million half-liter plastic bottles! Over the past year, we've already collected half of our target, and we're determined to continue our efforts in the years to come. The collection progress can be tracked through our Impact Report.
Introducing Our Sustainable Collection
As part of our commitment to sustainability, we've also introduced a range of products made from 100% recycled polyester. Since 2023, we have been working with Waste2Wear, a trusted supplier of sustainable textile solutions. This supplier specializes in creating innovative fabrics from recycled materials, including plastic bottles collected from the ocean and other waste sources. By utilizing recycled polyester, our products are not only environmentally friendly but also high quality, providing you with quality apparel that doesn't compromise performance or functionality. Check out our entire collection to see how we're incorporating sustainable materials into our products. Furthermore, we've taken steps to reduce our plastic usage across our operations. From replacing shipping bags with recycled alternatives to minimizing plastic packaging, we're continually striving to minimize our environmental footprint.
Building a Plastic-Free Future Together
We remain committed to our mission of building a plastic-free future for generations to come. At Gorilla Wear, Earth Day isn't just a one-day event—it's a reminder of our ongoing responsibility to protect our planet and promote sustainability in everything we do.
